The Patient Care Addition at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago presented a major challenge for contractors – how to build a modern, state-of-the-art patient care center with limited space.
The owner would not accept ramps or elevation changes on floors, which left precious little space for the mechanical and electrical systems. That’s where the skill and expertise of Block Electric came into play. Through innovative electrical design, extensive use of cutting-edge BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology and careful coordination between contractors, the new Patient Care Addition was completed in 2009.
In recent years BIM has become an increasingly useful and time-saving tool for electrical contractors. BIM uses state-of-the-art 3D modeling software to digitally model the entire project prior to beginning any work, practically eliminating conflicts among work being done by different contractors.
Once again, Block Electric delivered a successful project to the delight of our clients. Today Resurrection Medical Center operates as an award-winning, 360-bed academic teaching hospital and full service medical center with comprehensive health services. The new Patient Care Addition is a five-story facility with 120 private patient rooms.
